I first met Mike in the 1980s when he was in charge of the squad I was on (as a Detective Sergeant) in the C8 Robbery Squad office at Rotherhithe. He was always a very popular, ‘switched-on’ guv’nor and a gentle man with a passion for job satisfaction. Many years later he invited me as his guest to join a group of old retired police officers who occasionally meet over lunch to reminisce about old times. A very sincere man, he was always a calm and entertaining conversationalist who I will certainly miss. Brian Saunders
